I love the accessibility and convenience of most things online these days, shopping included, but some things really are better in person for sake of the experience as a whole.
Although we’ve taken a super minimal approach to baby preparations this time around, I’ve still found so much joy in hand picking a few specialty, splurge, or sentimental items. And now that we are back in the Toronto area, we’ve been making the most of our last few weeks before baby’s arrival to do so.
And with that, I’m sharing a few of my favourite places (this way) for the in-person picking of baby items. * If you’re not local, they all have online shops as well, that are linked and worth a browsing.

Mini Mioche, Distillery
Here you’ll find just about every organically, ethically made basic you could ever meet for babies to big kids. There are 3 locations, 2 of which are in Toronto and both equally great but this location is easily my favourite as it’s more spacious, has a chic play area for kids while mom shops, and is across from Balzacs so grab a coffee to accompany your browsing session.
(The Distillery also provides wide open spaces for little ones on the move and no cars or heavy foot traffic to worry about either. Win-win!)
BRIKA
Offering a unique selection of toys, decor and other treats like one of a kind cards, candles, and local makers. There’s always something new to discover and you can pretty much rest assured you’ll find the product of up and coming creators on display. Located in the Queen West area, promises more than just one place to stop in your day.
Macpherson House
A consciously curated selection of apparel, accessories, care products and toys. Think insta-favourite brands like Rylee & Cru, Petits Vilains, Summer & Storm, Hazel Village, Pehr, Sō Luxury and K’Pure Naturals. Located in one of Toronto’s most desirable neighbourhoods, Macpherson makes for a great first of many stops in the Summerhill area.
Kol Kid
If you’re looking for an extensive offering of high-end, modern mom favourites then this is probably the spot for you. Apparel, swimwear, footwear, accessories and more. Also located on the Queen West strip.
August Kinn
Newer on the scene of Toronto’s children’s boutiques, but no less worthy. They offer stylish, minimal-ish items for newborn up to 5 years old including a broad selection of Canadian brands. This spot is located on the Danforth which offers a fun, diverse, and cultural selection of business and restaurant options. (My husband actually went to school in this area and there’s something so fun and authentic about the area).
Early Bird & Worm
A total yes for the cool mom and rad kid. Roncesvalles’ go-to concept store offering a trend-forward selection of both fashion and lifestyle products, as well as collaborative events like ‘Little Rebel Classes’ (haven’t attended personally but boy, do they look like fun!) If you’re looking for something on the more funky side and want a fun, light-hearted shopping experience then you’ve got to put this spot on your list.

Happy browsing!
x, Olivia.
